One Stamp Set...Two Different Looks

Hello friends,

Today I'm sharing two cards I created using the Simon Says Stamp Ornate Ornaments stamp set. Both use many of the same techniques such as embossing, distress ink blending, jewels, etc., but yet are very unique in their own ways.

So let's have a look at the first card. For this card, I chose blue and silver as my colour combo. The ornaments were stamped using Versamark ink onto Neenah 80 lb. smooth white cardstock and heat embossed with Simon Says Stamp Ultra Fine Mermaid Embossing Powder. The embossing powder contains glitter sparkle and looks so pretty in real life (it's hard to tell in the photos). I then die cut the ornaments with the coordinating dies and set them aside to work on my background.

Using the fabulous Life Changing Brushes by Picket Fence Studios (seriously people, the hype is real!) I created a gradient effect by ink blending Broken China and Tumbled Glass Distress Inks. Next I mixed white acrylic paint with a little water on an acrylic block and flicked the paint onto the panel to mimic the look of snow. Once the splatters were dry, I white heat embossed the sentiments and adhered the ornaments to the panel, popping up the middle one with foam tape. I added some silver metallic stretch cord by Craft Medley (scored it from my local dollar store), using scotch tape to secure it to the back of the panel, and tied a bow on the middle ornament. For the final touch, I added Simon Says Stamp silver lining sequins. I then adhered the entire panel to a standard A2 sized note card.

For my second card, I paired up gold with a non-traditional Christmas colour, pink! The ornaments were heat embossed using Versamark Ink and Ranger white embossing powder. I then watercoloured them using Kuretake Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers and once they were dry I die cut them with the coordinating dies and set them aside. The background was ink blended using the Ranger mini ink blending tool and three colours of distress oxide inks; Wilted Violet, Picked Raspberry and Worn Lipstick. I flicked water splatters onto the background and dabbed it with a paper towel. Once dry, I sprayed the entire panel with Silver Glitter Dust by Therm-o-web, my new favorite crafty product! You can see the subtle shimmer it gives the card in the close-up photo.

Once the panel was dry, I adhered the ornaments, again I popped up the middle one for added dimension, and gold heat embossed the strings and the sentiment using Lawn Fawn Gold embossing powder. The frame was die cut using Altenew Fine Frames Cover Die and Tonic Studios Mirror Card Gold Pearl. For the final touch, I added Pretty Pink Posh Metallic Gold Jewels. I then adhered the finished panel onto an A2 sized note card and called it done!

And those are my completed cards! It's really cool how you can totally change the look of a card just by changing up the colours. I like them both, but I think my favourite is the gold and pink. ;)

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you have a lovely day and that you're able to carve out some crafty time for yourself. :)
