Happy Birthday Scrapbook Page

Hello crafty friends,

It's not often that I create scrapbook pages about myself, but I think it's super important to include ourselves in our albums. We have our own unique stories to tell and our stories matter. :)

Today I'm sharing this 12" x 12" layout that documents my 52nd birthday which I recently celebrated. I was lucky enough to spend the day with my husband and two adult daughters (my birthday fell on a weekday and it's rare that we all have the day off from work at the same time). We drove to Niagara-on-the-Lake, a picturesque town here in Southern Ontario that I love so much. Things definitely looked and felt different because of the physical distancing and everyone wearing masks, but we made the best of it and enjoyed the day together nonetheless.

This scrapbook page was inspired by a blog post on the Scrapbook and Cards Today Magazine blog and a layout created by their designer Lisa Dickinson. Click here to see the post. For the background, I created the same cut file design as Lisa did and cut it out on white textured cardstock using my Silhouette Cameo. I trimmed down the white cardstock to 11.75" square and machine stitched around the perimeter. I then used one of the patterned papers from the Vicki Boutin Kaleidoscope collection to back the cut file and then adhered it onto red cardstock. I also cut the "birthday" word from patterned paper from the same collection.

I matted the two 3" x 4" photos onto patterned papers from the 6x8 pad and added 3D foam tape to the back of them to create dimension. I embellished the layout using various ephemera from the kit, popping up some of the florals and butterflies with foam dots.

I felt the layout needed some more black to tie in with the photo mattes, so I added some of the black epoxy crosses and a black arrow that came in the sticker pack as well as a tab sticker that I added the date to over to the right of my photo. I printed my journaling onto white cardstock and cut it into strips.

I hope this layout inspires you to come out from behind the camera and document your own stories because you are definitely worth it. :)

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Have a beautiful day!

Fall Mini Album in a Travel Case

Hello crafty friends!

I’ve been obsessed with making mini albums lately! These bite-size projects are so fun and easy to make and I get a real sense of accomplishment when I complete one.

The mini album I’m sharing today can hold up to 30 pics and can be completed in 4-6 hours. It even comes with this adorable travel case! The travel case includes a handle and magnet closures on the outside and two pockets on the inside for storing additional photos.

The measurements of the mini album are 4 ½” x 6 ½” x 1”.

The travel case measures approximately 7 ½” x 5 ½” x 3”.

I used the beautiful Pumpkin Spice collection by Simple Stories.
