Get Well Card Trio Created for Scrapbook Nerd

Hello friends!

Spring is in the air! The sun is shining, the snow is melting and the days are getting longer. Hope the weather is showing the same signs of life in your neck of the woods. :)

Even though the weather is getting nicer, a lot of people I know are still getting over their coughs and colds but what better way to cheer them up than to send them a get well card featuring the oh-so-adorable Get Well Before 'n Afters and Magic Picture Slider from Lawn Fawn's latest release.

I was so excited to receive my order from Scrapbook Nerd last week and couldn't wait to play with these new products. I was so inspired that I created three cards for you today.

My first card features the super innovative Magic Picture Slider die. This die is no ordinary die. With this die, you can create a picture that will magically change with just the pull of a tab. In my card example, the little turtle is upside down and sad because he's sick. But when you pull the tab he's right side up and magically recovered! So cute!

I stamped the turtle onto Neenah Solar White 80 lb cardstock and coloured him in using my Copic markers. Next I stamped the turtle again onto some masking paper, fussy cut it and applied it over the coloured turtle so that I could do some ink blending on the background.

I used Tumbled Glass and Broken China Distress Oxide inks for the sky. To create the grass, I used the Lawn Fawn Grassy Border die to cut a piece of grass onto a scrap piece of cardstock. I used that as a template and applied Mowed Lawn Distress Oxide ink.

I created the interactive piece by following the instructions in one of Lawn Fawn's YouTube tutorial videos.

Next, I decorated the panel with patterned papers from the new Lawn Fawn Really Rainbow Scallops 6x6 paper pad as well as some additional images from the Get Well Before 'n Afters stamp set.

I stamped the "Pull Here" on the pull tab which is from the Lawn Fawn Push Here Stamp Set. I mounted the panel onto an A2 sized card base from Lawn Fawn Moonstone cardstock using foam adhesive. And that completes card #1.

Here's a GIF of what the card looks like in action!

For my next card, I die cut three circles using the Lawn Fawn Reverse Stitched Scalloped Circle Windows dies onto one of the papers from the Really Rainbow Scallops paper pad. I adhered it to the front of an A2 sized card base.

I stamped and coloured the images of the sick whale, the nurse chick who healed him with the medication and bandaid, and the healthy whale with my Copic markers and used my Uniball Signo Pigment Ink Pen to add a few highlights.

I adhered the images to the inside of the circles using foam dots to add dimension. Next, I stamped the "Get Whale Soon" sentiment onto black cardstock using Versamark ink and heat embossed it with Ranger White Embossing Powder. I adhered those to the card with foam dots. For the inside of my card, I heat embossed the sentiment and a little heart with Versafine Onyx Black Ink and Ranger Clear Embossing Powder.

My third card for today features the newly released Lawn Fawn Fancy Wavy Banners and Wavy Sayings Stamp Set.

I trimmed a piece of patterned paper from the Lawn Fawn Really Rainbow 6x6 paper pad to 4" x 5.25" and mounted it to a 4.25" x 5.5" cardbase from Neenah 100 lb Smooth Desert Storm cardstock.

I die cut a scalloped circle using the Lawn Fawn Scalloped Circle Stackables dies, and a stitched circle from the Lawn Fawn Outside In Stitched Circle Stackables dies. On the stitched circle, I blended Broken China and Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide inks to create the sky. For the grass, I used the Lawn Fawn Stitched Hillside Borders and cut a hill from the Lawn Fawn Knock on Wood 6x6 Paper Pad.

I stamped and coloured the turtle, glued him to the circle, and adhered the circle using foam dots to the scalloped circle. I glued the scalloped circle to the card front.

I die cut one of the Fancy Wavy Banners and heat embossed the Thinking of You sentiment from the Wavy Sayings stamp set. I then adhered it to the front of the card using foam dots.

I also heat embossed another sentiment below the circle and stamped the second part of the sentiment on the inside of the card. I added a few more stamped images to the inside of the card for some additional cuteness.

And those are my completed cards for today!

Ninabrook March DT Project

Hi friends!

Today I'm pleased to be sharing a project I created for the Ninabrook Paper Crafting Design Team as their Guest Designer for the month of March.

For my project this month, I decided to create a mini album, filled with waterfalls, flaps and pockets which was inspired by a You Tube tutorial by My Sisters Scrapper. My mini album features the lovely Bo Bunny Sweet Life Bundle from Ninabrook Paper Crafting. With all the lovely florals, butterflies and pretty Spring colours, it was the perfect bundle to create my project with!

I covered the front, back and inside covers with the 6x8 sheets that came with the bundle. I added some homemade flowers and leaves that my mom crocheted for me to the front cover. For the title I used Thickers by American Crafts and for the spine I hot glued some trim by Prima called Parisian Ruffle. The rest of the embellishments are by Jen Hadfield and Heidi Swapp.

Here is what the album looks like when you first open it. There is a metal clip holding the waterfall on the left side. Some flaps, pockets, and another waterfall are on the right side. I kept the embellishing to a minimum as I didn't want to add too much bulk and I felt the patterned papers already added so much interest.

Here's what the waterfall looks like when you remove the clip. I used the 3x4 journaling cards that came with the bundle for each of these flaps and black cardstock for the inside of the flaps. There is room for up to 15 photos just on this side of the album.

Here is a mini booklet in the middle of the album. When you open it there are two mattes in white cardstock for more photos or you can use the pockets as I did here by adding tags and some ephemera.

To the right are more flaps that will fit up to 6 photos. There is a pocket on the bottom to tuck more photos or ephemera in.

Underneath those flaps, I used the 4x6 journaling cards that came with the bundle to create another waterfall with room for up to 4 more photos. Altogether, you can fit up to 30 photos in this mini album. The album measures 6" wide x 8.25" high. It's small but packs a punch and is perfect for documenting a special occasion all in one cute little mini.

Here is a video that will give you a closer look. If you are interested in creating this file folder mini album for yourself, click here for the link to the video that inspired me.

Thanks so much for stopping by. Remember to check out the Ninabrook shop for this bundle and other bundles they offer at great price points.

Hope you have an awesome day!

Cute Chemists Trio Created for Scrapbook Nerd

Hi friends!

Today I'm sharing a trio of cards I created for the Scrapbook Nerd Design Team. The moment My Favorite Things released this Cute Chemists stamp set I just knew I had to add it to my collection! I'm a big fan of their Birdie Brown line of stamps and their adorable, catchy sentiments! I mean how cute is "You Make My Beaker Bubble" lol.

My first card features the charming girl scientist. I actually created this card for my husband for our 30th wedding anniversary next month. One of the things that I love about this stamp set is that it can be adapted for many occasions, not just Valentine's Day.

I used patterned papers by My Favorite Things from their Sweet Stack and Black & White Stripes 6x6 paper pads. All images were stamped with Momento Tuxedo Black Ink onto Neenah Solar White 80 lb cardstock and coloured with Copic Markers. The A2 sized card base is Mermaid cardstock by Lawn Fawn. The sentiment was heat embossed using a Versamark ink pad and Brutus Monroe white alabaster embossing powder and then die cut with Lawn Fawn's Everyday Sentiment Banners. I used 3D foam dots to add dimension to some of the images.

My next card features the beakers and test tubes exploding with love and affection. The white card panel was embossed with the Swiss Hearts embossing folder by Taylored Expressions. Prior to embossing, I inked up the embossing folder (the indented side) with Salty Ocean Distress Ink using a Picket Fence Studio Life Changing Brush.

The patterned paper is from the Sweet Stack 6x6 paper pad. The A2 sized card base is Moonstone cardstock by Lawn Fawn. The sentiment was white heat embossed using Versamark Ink and Brutus Monroe alabaster white embossing powder and then die cut with Lawn Fawn's Everyday Sentiment Banners.

My last card features the wild-haired nerdy boy. Using a Life Changing Brush, I applied Brushed Corduroy, Rusty Hinge and Mustard Seed distress inks in a gradient. These brushes are amazing for creating a smooth blend. I then spritzed some water on the panel and soaked up the excess with a dry paper towel. I then used the Stitched Fireworks dies from Lawn Fawn to add an explosion effect.

I white heat embossed the circles and hearts and then added white paint splatters throughout. The sentiment was white heat embossed using Versamark Ink and Brutus Monroe alabaster white embossing powder and then die cut with Lawn Fawn's Everyday Sentiment Banners. I adhered the panel to an A2 sized white card base.

And those are my completed cards for today. I love how you can create so many different cute scenes with just one stamp set.

Many of the products used on these card projects are available in the Scrapbook Nerd store. If you have any questions, please leave me a comment below.

Home is Where the Heart is Card Created for Scrapbook Nerd

Hi friends!

I'm back with another card for the Scrapbook Nerd Design Team. This week our theme is "Home" and the Lawn Fawn Happy Village stamp set immediately came to mind! It has the most adorable images and perfect sentiments for congratulating someone on moving into their new home.

I stamped and coloured all my images with Copic markers. I didn't have the coordinating dies for this stamp set so I fussy cut all the images by hand. I admit it took a little bit of time but it was a labour of love and I think the results are worth it!

I created the cute little scenes using the Lawn Fawn Peekaboo Backdrop die. I backed each square including the card panel using patterned paper from their Perfectly Plaid Rainbow and Perfectly Plaid Spring 6x6 Paper Packs.

To further decorate the scene I used the Grassy Border, Little Picket Fence Border and Stitched Hillside Borders dies. The sentiment is cut using the Everyday Sentiment Banners.

I used fun foam to adhere the scene to a patterned paper card panel and that completes my card! I had a lot of fun creating this card. I just love the bright and happy colours and makes me look forward to Spring even more!

Many of the products used on this card project are available in the Scrapbook Nerd store or can be ordered for you if not in stock. If you have any questions, please leave me a comment below.

2-For-1 Friendship Cards

Hi friends,

Today's projects are sort of a 2-for-1 deal. I love it when one card sparks an idea for another! Keep reading and you'll see what I mean. :)

To create the background on my first card, I used the Altenew Scallop Builder Stencil. This stencil is really cool because it allows you to ink it up with two different colours just by repositioning the stencil. For my ink colours, I chose Lawn Fawn Ballet Slippers and Mermaid Ink. I just love teal and pink as a combo, don't you? The inks were applied with the Ranger Mini Ink Blending Tool.

Next I die cut a heart opening from the panel using the Lawn Fawn Outside In Stitched Heart Stackables die. Here's where the 2-for-1 deal comes in. I saved the positive piece (the part that popped out) to make my second card.

For the sentiments I used the Simon Says Stamp/CZ Design Bestie stamp set. The sentiment that peeks through the heart was stamped onto Stampin' Up cardstock and heat embossed with Versafine Onyx Black Ink and Ranger Clear Embossing Powder. For the "friend" word, I heat embossed it onto black cardstock using Versamark Ink and Brutus Monroe Alabaster White Embossing Powder. I then cut out the "friend" using the coordinating die.

Next I added 3-D foam tape to the back of the panel and adhered it to my card front. I adhered the "friend" using small pieces of 3-D foam tape except for the letter "f" and "d". I used regular glue on those. As a finishing touch, a few Pretty Pink Posh Blush Jewels were added to the front of the card.

My second card uses all the same products as the first, except my card panel is Woodgrain Cardstock from Lawn Fawn. You can see the texture very nicely in the second photo.

I die cut another heart using the Lawn Fawn Lacy Heart Stackables die set, and adhered the leftover heart from the first card in the middle of the scalloped heart. I then popped up the hearts with 3-D foam dots to add dimension and adhered it to the woodgrain panel.

I added a different sentiment from the Bestie stamp set to the heart and finished off the card with the same jewels from Pretty Pink Posh.

I hope you enjoyed today's cards and that you have a wonderful day!
