Happy Birthday Card Created for Scrapbook Nerd

Hi friends! I’m so pleased to be sharing my very first Tuesday Tutorial on the Scrapbook Nerd blog today!

The card I created features the Laurel Frame stamp and die set by Concord & 9th. This is a layering stamp set which requires the use of a MISTI or other stamping platform to allow for multiple stamping in the same position with different ink colours.

In addition to the Concord & 9th Laurel Frame stamp and die set, I used the Altenew Stone Wall stencil to create an ink blended background.

First, I cut a 4.25” x 5.5” panel from Neenah Solar White 80 lb cardstock. I positioned the stencil on top of the panel and secured it with purple tape to my Tim Holtz glass media mat. Using a Life Changing Blender Brush from Picket Fence Studios, I blended Wilted Violet, Picked Raspberry and Spun Sugar distress inks. These brushes are a real game changer for me. I used to struggle with blending distress inks but these brushes make it so easy and provide a seamless blend. I can’t recommend them enough.

Next I went to work on the stamping. I positioned my first stamp on the MISTI. Instead of stamping the leaves in traditional greens, I decided to use grey since pink and grey is my favourite colour combo. You may notice a #1 written on the stamp. I like to write numbers on the stamps so that I know which stamp to stamp first, then second, etc.  This saves a lot of time. I went ahead and stamped the frame with Lawn Fawn Hippo and Storm Cloud inks, starting with the lightest colour for the first layer. For the flowers, I used Spun Sugar and Picked Raspberry. Although there are 3 layers to the flowers, I chose to only stamp two for this card.

Using the coordinating dies, I positioned them over the images and secured them with low-tack tape so they wouldn’t move in my die-cutting machine. Notice I stamped another set of flowers on the side. I’m going to use pop dots on that image and position it over the flowers on the frame to create a dimensional effect. Note: The dies that come in this set also include an inner die to create an opening in the centre of the frame which is really cool for making shaker cards or just using it as a wreath. But for this card, I chose not to cut it out so I could stamp my sentiment in the middle. I stamped the sentiment with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.

Next I added foam tape to the back of the frame and adhered it to my panel. I coiled some invisible thread and tucked it behind the frame under the foam tape to secure it. I applied clear Wink of Stella to the flowers to add some shimmer and added Pretty Pink Posh Blush jewels to the front of the card.

Lastly, I adhered the panel to a standard A2 sized white card base and that finishes off my card! I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and that you give layering stamps a try. With all the different colour combinations, no two cards will look alike. The creative possibilities are endless!

Life is Beautiful Card Created for Scrapbook Nerd

Happy Saturday folks! And if you're in Canada, happy Family Day long weekend!

This weekend the Scrapbook Nerd Design Team is hosting an online crop on the Scrapbook Nerd Friends Group on Facebook. There are challenges, prizes and fun to be had so head on over there if you can!

It's a closed group but we invite new members to join anytime! Here's the link.

One of the challenges I posted is themed "For the Love of Flowers". The challenge is to create a card with flowers as the focal point. You can use stamps, ephemera, die cuts, anything goes!

I posted a card earlier this week with the Engraved Flowers stamp and die set by Altenew and was so inspired by this gorgeous stamp set that I decided to create another card with it for this challenge.

First, I stamped the flowers and leaves onto Strathmore Watercolour Paper with Versamark Ink and heat embossed with Lawn Fawn Gold Embossing Powder.

I then watercoloured the images using Mowed Lawn, Barn Door and Mustard Seed Distress Oxide Inks. The card panel was dry embossed with the Lots of Love 6x6 Stencil from Echo Park. The sentiment was also gold embossed. The coral cardstock I used for the sentiment and card base is from the Stampin' Up! Tearoom pack.

I added some gold splatters from the Kuretake Gansai Tambi Starry Set and finished off the card front with Studio Katia clear drops. On the inside of the card, I stamped another flower using the same Barn Door Distress Oxide Inks.

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope to see you over on the SN Friends FB page. Have a great day! :)

I Just Adore You Card Created for Scrapbook Nerd

Hi friends!

I'm excited to be back with another card for the Scrapbook Nerd Design Team!

This card features the gorgeous Engraved Flowers Stamp and Die set by Altenew. I have really fallen head over heels for Altenew lately. Their flowers are so beautiful and realistic with so many creative possibilities. My favourite thing to do is to watercolour them with my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers.

For my A2 sized card base, I used Lawn Fawn Sugarplum cardstock. The panel was trimmed to 4" x 5.25" from Lawn Fawn Woodgrain cardstock. The panel was then adhered to the cardbase with Ranger Multi Medium Matte adhesive.

I stamped the flowers and leaves onto Strathmore Watercolour Paper with Versafine Onyx Black Ink and heat embossed with Ranger Clear Embossing Powder. I watercoloured the flower and leaves with the following Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers:

No. 080 - Violet
No. 082 - Purple
No. 046 - Mid Green
No. 043 - Olive Green

Once they were dry, I adhered the flowers and leaves to the panel using the Ranger glue as well as 3D foam dots by 3L Scrapbook Adhesives. I then flicked black paint splatters onto the white panel and adhered 8mm Iridescent White Sequins by Darice. I went over the flower with a Wink of Stella brush to add some glittery shimmer which is difficult to see in the photos but looks so pretty in real life.

I stamped the sentiment onto black cardstock using Versamark ink and heat embossed it with Ranger White Embossing Powder. I cut a little notch out of the end and popped it up on the card with 3D foam dots.

For the inside of the card, I stamped another flower from the Altenew set using Tim Holtz Wilted Violet Distress Oxide ink. And that completes my card for today!

Monster Love Cards Created for Scrapbook Nerd

Hi folks!

I would like to give a huge shout out to Scrapbook Nerd for inviting me to be on their
new cardmaking creative team! I'm so thrilled to be joining this team of very talented designers!

This week the Scrapnook Nerd DT has chosen the theme LOVE for its projects and with that in mind I created two cards using the adorable Monster Love stamp set by Concord & 9th.

First up is a shaker card. I cut a 4" x 5.25" panel out of Neenah 100 lb Smooth Desert Storm cardstock. I dry embossed the Lots of Love 6x6 Stencil by Echo Park onto the panel. It's hard to see in the photos but if you look closely you can make out the raised hearts. I then used the Lawn Fawn Outside In Stitched Circle Stackables die to cut a circle out of the panel.

Next I stamped the monster and balloon on Neenah 80 lb Solar White cardstock using Versafine Onyx Black Ink and heat set it with Ranger Clear Embossing Powder. I coloured my monster's body with Copic markers BG15 and BG18 and Y32 for his ears. Using my MISTI tool, I stamped the "love you" sentiment in the balloon with Lawn Fawn Lobster Ink, then restamped over top of it with Versamark Ink and then heat set it with clear embossing powder.

I then applied Tim Holtz Evergreen Bough Distress Ink to the circle piece that popped out of the panel and adhered that to a white 4.25" x 5.5" notecard, being careful to position it in the correct spot so the circle on the panel will line up. I then added some Craft Medley red and clear iridescent sequins to the circle.

Using double sided tape, I adhered clear acetate to the back of the circle on my panel. Next, I added 3D foam strips to the back of the panel and carefully adhered it to the notecard. I adhered the monster and the balloon to the panel using my Lawn Fawn Glue Tube and attached red/white twine that I had in my stash from the balloon tip to his hand. On the inside of my card, I stamped the sentiment and a little flower with the Lobster ink.

For my next card, I invited my monster's cute little friend! I love how this stamp set includes different arms you can choose for this monster depending on what action you want him to do. He's so adorable!

I started out by cutting a 4" x 5.25" panel out of Neenah 80 lb Smooth Solar White cardstock. Using the Watercolour Stripes Stencil by Altenew, I applied Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks in Spun Sugar, Picked Raspberry and Seedless Preserves using the Life Changing Brushes by Picket Fence Studios and set it aside to dry.

I stamped and embossed my images in the same method as my first card. I then watercoloured the big monster with the same distress oxide ink colours as the background, and the little monster in  Squeezed Lemonade and Black Soot.

Next I die cut the heart out of Neenah 100 lb Smooth Desert Storm cardstock using the Lawn Fawn Outside In Stitched Heart Stackables die. I stamped and embossed the greeting on the heart. I also stamped and embossed the "We're the Cutest" sentiment and die cut it with the Lawn Fawn Everyday Sentiment Banners die.

I adhered the heart to the panel using my Lawn Fawn Glue Tube, popped up the monsters and the sentiment banner using 3D Foam Squares and adhered those to the panel as well.

I then glued the panel to a standard A2 sized notecard and added a few Studio Katia Onyx Crystals to finish off the card.

I hope you enjoyed this mini-tutorial and that you were inspired in some way to create your own set of Valentine's cards.

A Sweet Valentine's Day Card

Hi folks!

Valentine's Day is right around the corner and the card I'm sharing today is for my hubby. We don't usually celebrate Valentine's Day, but in April of this year we will be celebrating 30 years of marriage and I think that deserves a card for V Day!

The card I created today features the sweet Thanks a Latte stamp set by Lawn Fawn. First, I cut a 4" x 5.25" panel from 80 lb. Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock. I applied Tim Holtz Picked Raspberry Distress Ink to the 6x6 Lots of Love Stencil by Echo Park using my Picket Fence Studios Life Changing Brushes. I left the bottom portion free of hearts because I wanted an open area to stamp my sentiment. Next, I applied Spun Sugar Distress Ink on top of the stenciled hearts and the rest of my panel to fill in all that white space.

I stamped the images onto the same white cardstock and used the following Copic markers to colour them in:

Mister Mug - BG15, BG18, BG45
Lady Mug - V04, V15, V17
Cocoa/Coffee - E23, E25, E74
Marshmallows and Whipped Cream - W1

Once my images were coloured, I stamped the cute faces on the mugs, die cut all the images using the coordinating dies and adhered them to my panel using glue and 3D foam dots. I added some highlights to the mugs using my white signo gel pen and used my Wink of Stella brush to add some sparkly shine to the marshmallows and whipped cream.

For the sentiment, I used Versafine Onyx Black ink and heat embossed it with Ranger Clear Embossing Powder. I then mounted the finished panel onto fun foam and adhered it to an A2 sized notecard from Lawn Fawn Mermaid cardstock.

On the inside of my card, I used Lawn Fawn Mermaid Ink to stamp the mug and Momento Tuxedo Black Ink to stamp the sentiment which is from the Lawn Fawn Conversation Heart Add-on stamp set. And that completes my card for today!

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you have a fabulous day! :)
