Snarky Birthday Card - Manuary Card Series

Hello crafty friends,

Today's card project is clean and simple and is part of the month-long #manuarycards series over on Instagram that I'm participating in. This one is going out to my friend Rob who is celebrating his birthday this month. I love the snarky sentiment on it and I know he'll get a laugh out of it. :)

For my card panel, I stamped and heat embossed the Simon Says Stamp Plank Cling Stamp onto Lawn Fawn Storm Cloud cardstock using Versamark Ink and Ranger Clear Embossing Powder. I trimmed it down to 3.75" x 5" and adhered it with foam tape to a standard A2 sized notecard.

Next I die cut the Dude Wafer Die by CZ Designs out of white cardstock once and its shadow die three times out of black cardstock and adhered them all together. I used liquid glue to adhere it to my card front.

The sentiment strip is also from Simon Says Stamp and comes pre-printed. All you do is trim it out. I popped it up with foam tape and adhered it under the die cut.

And that's my finished card project! By keeping this card design clean and simple, I was able to create it with very few steps and in a short amount of time.

I hope you've had a chance to check out the inspiration on Instagram under the #manuarycards hashtag. I will be sharing more masculine card inspiration throughout the month so be sure to follow me there @iluv2scrap1 or here on my blog.

Nautical Themed Cards - Manuary Card Series

Hello crafty friends!

As an ocean/sea lover, today's card projects for the #manuarycards series really speak to my heart. The nautical themed products I used on these cards are by Catherine Pooler Designs. I purchased them back in July of 2019 and finally had a chance to play with them. Some are still available for purchase through their website as well as Scrapbook.com.

For my first card, I trimmed the anchor's patterned paper from the 6x6 Salt & Seaweed paper pad to 2.5" x 5.5". I adhered it to an A2 sized white notecard about 3/4" from the left. I then trimmed two pieces of white cardstock, 1" x 5.5" and 1.5" x 5.5".

Using my Misti stamping tool, I stamped a sentiment from the Refuse to Sink stamp set on the 1.5" white cardstock strip with Lawn Fawn Blue Jay ink. I then stamped it once more with Versamark Ink, added Ranger Clear Embossing Powder and then heat set it.

I added foam tape to both strips of white cardstock and adhered the 1" piece flush to the left and the 1.5" was adhered flush to the right.

I stamped various nautical images from the Vitamin Sea stamp set using Lawn Fawn Peacock and Sugar Cookie ink and fussy cut them. I adhered them with foam tape in a zig-zag formation over the patterned paper. Finally, I added some sequins as a finishing touch.

For my next card, I cut two 1" x 5.5" strips of the same anchors patterned paper. I adhered them with liquid glue to a white A2 sized notecard, one on the left side and the other on the right.

I cut a 3" x 5.5" strip of woodgrain paper from the Sunny Studios 6x6 Subtle Grey Tones paper pad and stamped a sentiment from the Hook, Line and Sinker stamp set using Lawn Fawn Blue Jay ink. I then stamped it once more with Versamark Ink, added Ranger Clear Embossing Powder and then heat set it. I added foam tape to the 3" strip and adhered it to the center of the card.

Next, I die cut the Ship's Wheel die from Gina K Designs In the Navy cardstock. Then using the Blue Jay ink, I stamped the "I Love You" sentiment and with Lawn Fawn Forget-me-not ink, I stamped the Anchor image from the Refuse to Sink stamp set. I fussy cut both images and layered them over the ship's wheel using liquid glue and foam tape.

To finish off the card, I added sequins and some hemp cord tied into a bow.

Birthday Wishes - Manuary Card Series

Hello crafty friends!

I'm back with another card project for the "Manuary" card series over on Instagram. This one came together really quickly with just a few simple products.

For my card base, I trimmed a 4.25" x 5.5" piece of Blue Denim cardstock by Gina K Designs and adhered it to a standard A2 sized white notecard.

I then took a piece of white cardstock and secured a stencil called Knitted Sweater by Echo Park Paper to it with some low tack tape. Using my Picket Fence Studios Life Changing Blender Brushes I blended Blueprint Sketch, Mermaid Lagoon and Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide Inks, going back and forth with each ink colour to create a seamless transition between the three colours. I trimmed the panel to 4" x 5.25" and adhered it to the card base.

Using the Wishes Die by Gina K Designs, I die cut it four times out of black cardstock and stacked them together to create dimension. I then adhered it to the bottom right of the card using liquid glue. From the matching Wishes Mini Stamp Set, I stamped and heat embossed the "Sending Birthday" sentiment and the balloon image using Versafine Onyx Black Ink and Ranger Clear Embossing Powder. I coloured the balloon using Y35 and Y38 Copic markers and adhered both to the card front using foam tape.

And that is my super quick and super easy card project for today. I will be sharing more masculine card inspiration throughout the month on Instagram so be sure to follow me @iluv2scrap1 or here on my blog.

A Valentine's Day Card - Manuary Card Series

Hi friends!

Today I'm back with another masculine themed card for the "Manuary" card series. This one is all about Valentine's Day. Like most people, when I think of Valentine's Day I think of hearts and flowers (and chocolate!). If the man in your life is not into that, then as a crafter, it can be a bit challenging to create a card especially for him for this particular occasion.

For my card today, I wanted it to be both cutesy and masculine, so I pulled out an older stamp set called Cute Chemists by My Favorite Things, three earth-toned Distress Oxide Inks and some stencils.

On the front of an A2 sized white notecard (4.25" x 5.5"), I secured the 6x6 Rectangles Masking Stencil by Taylored Expressions with some low tack tape. Starting from the bottom, I used the Picket Fence Studios Life Changing Blender Brushes to blend Ground Espresso, Faded Jeans and Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide Inks, creating a seamless transition between the three colours.

Once the ink was dry and with the masking stencil still in place, I secured the Small Brick Stencil by My Favorite Things on top of the masking stencil and using a very light hand, I went over the stencil with the Ground Espresso ink to create a subtle brick wall. I then splattered a few water droplets, dabbed them with a paper towel and removed the stencils.

Next, I stamped and heat embossed the hearts from the stamp set onto the center of the card using Versamark Ink and Brutus Monroe Alabaster White Embossing Powder. Then I stamped the girl and boy chemists onto white cardstock and coloured them using Copic markers. I used the matching dies to cut them out and using foam tape I popped them up on the card front.

I stamped and heat embossed a sentiment onto white cardstock using Versafine Onyx Black Ink and Ranger Clear Embossing Powder. I trimmed out the sentiment using the largest die from the Everyday Sentiment Banners die set by Lawn Fawn and adhered it to the card front using foam dots.

I just love that punny sentiment and even though this card is cutesy and kind of cartoon-ish, I think my husband will appreciate it just the same. :)

You Amaze Me - Manuary Card Series

Hello crafty friends!

Today I'm back with another card project for the #manuarycards series over on Instagram. This one has an outdoor and woodsy feel to it which reminds me of my son-in-law who loves to hunt. I think I'll save it and send it to him when he catches his first deer. ;)

For the A2 sized cardbase, I used Stormy Sky Cardstock by Gina K Designs. I trimmed some white cardstock to 4" x 5.25" and dry embossed it with my Taylored Expressions Woodgrain Embossing Folder. I cut the circle opening using one of the dies in my Hero Arts Circle Infinity Dies set. I had some red plaid patterned paper leftover from the Simple Stories Plaid Dad collection so I backed it behind the white panel and adhered it to the cardbase.

On another piece of Stormy Sky cardstock, I stamped the woodgrain stamp from the Walk in the Woods Stamp Set by Altenew using Lawn Fawn Hippo ink. From that piece, I die cut the deer head and stamped and white heat embossed the "You Amaze Me" sentiment, both are from the Concord & 9th Floral Print Silhouette Bundle. I trimmed the sentiment strip to 1/4" x 4" and matted it on black card stock and adhered it below the circle.

I stamped some foliage from the same Concord & 9th stamp set using the Hippo ink and die cut them with the coordinating dies. I also die cut the antlers from holographic cardstock by Tonic Studios called Holo Waves. I popped up the deer head and antlers with foam tape and tucked the foliage behind the head.

And that's my finished card project. I will be sharing more inspiration in the coming weeks on Instagram so be sure to follow me @iluv2scrap1 or here on my blog.

Introducing "Manuary" Cards Series

Hello crafty friends!

Happy new year! Hope your holidays were special despite the hardships that many have had to face during this global health crisis. Here's to resilience and strength and the opportunity to rebuild and reset in 2021.

This month I am joining my crafty friend Crystal Komara (@crystalkomara on IG) for a fun month-long series creating masculine themed cards. She has cleverly dubbed this project "Manuary" Cards.

My first project share is this birthday card I created for my dad. I used Neenah 100 lb Smooth Cardstock in Desert Storm to create the A2 sized card base (4.25" x 5.5").

I trimmed down some black cardstock to 4" x 5.25" and adhered it to my cardbase. Then I trimmed a 3.75" x 5" panel from Gina K Designs Blue Denim Cardstock and stamped and heat embossed the Diamond Pattern Cling Stamp by Simon Says Stamp. I used Brutus Monroe Alabaster White Embossing Powder and Versamark Ink. I adhered the panel to the black cardstock.

With the Desert Storm cardstock, I die cut the DAD letters using the Pinkfresh Studio Adore Alpha Set. I cut out each letter four times and stacked them to create dimension. I adhered them to the card front.

Next I stamped the mug image from the Altenew Best Dad stamp set onto white cardstock using Versafine Onyx Black Ink , embossed it with Ranger Clear Embossing Powder and coloured it with Copic markers.

I fussy cut the image, wrapped some baker's twine around it and looped it through a Simon Says Stamp pre-printed sentiment strip. I adhered the mug and the sentiment using foam tape.

And that completes my first Manuary card! I will be sharing inspiration all month long so be sure to follow me on Instagram @iluv2scrap1 or here on my blog.
